Submitted by clelia on July 9, 2012 - 7:50am
I Have the Right to Be a Child (Groundwood Books), written by Alain Serres, beautifully illustrated by Aurélia Fronty and translated by Helen Mixter, explains, in simple text, the rights all children are entitled to — the rights to food, water, education, freedom from violence and more. An important book for all kids, I Have the Right to Be a Child makes it clear that it's essential to know your rights and to talk about them.
I Have the Right to Be a Child includes an afterword that explains that the rights outlined in the text come from the UN's Convention on the Rights of the Child.
