What’s It About in a Nutshell: Daring schoolgirl tries to follow in her family’s footsteps; mom’s a globe-trotting explorer, dad’s a superhero and uncle’s an international spy!

What first inspired you to create comics or graphic novels? I’ve been reading comic books for as long as I can remember, and all those great stories inspire me to write.

Tell us about your inspiration for the character Alison Dare.
She is equal parts Indiana Jones, Tomb Raider, Tintin, Nancy Drew and my younger sister who went to an all-girls Catholic school and… got into some mischief now and then.

What for you makes a comic or graphic novel AWESOME!? Great storytelling! Likeable and relatable characters! Memorable plots with unexpected twists and turns!

What subjects are you obsessed with? Right now, my new iPhone and all these wonderful apps! Including comic books!

If you weren’t doing comics or graphic novels, what would you be doing? I used to teach and direct summer camp, and I’d like to return to that someday.

What’s your favourite graphic novel of all time? Today it’s Batman: Year One. Last week, I might have said Bone. Or one of the Tintin books.

What are you working on now? I’m not at liberty to go into details right now but I think it’s OK to mention that it involves Archie Comics.
