Sandra Ridley is Named Top Bard
Submitted by danielle on March 29, 2012 - 2:06pm
On March 28th, 20 Canadian poets came together to vie for the title of best bard at Poetry NOW’s 4th Annual Battle of the Bards. This evening of poetic performances was put together by Authors at Harbourfront Centre (AUTHORS), in partnership with NOW Magazine. After much deliberation the jury named Sandra Ridley the winner. The Ottawa-based author read from her work Post-Apothecary (Pedlar Press), “a rumination on the pitfalls of existence, and an exploration of the various ailments and cures that befall us.” As the winner, Sandra is invited to read at the 33rd annual International Festival of Authors (October 18 to 28, 2012) and receives an ad for her book in NOW Magazine. AUTHORS has also invited the following Poetry NOW participants to read at IFOA: Ayesha Chatterjee, author of The Clarity of Distance (Bayeux Arts Inc.), and John B. Lee, author of Dressed in Dead Uncles (Black Moss Press). Congratulations Sandra! Related item from our archives |
