I’ve always been interested in how people express grief in the sometimes public expression that is mourning. In Medieval Europe, donning a white cloak demonstrated a deeper loss than a black one; in the 19th Century, women often wore jewellery containing hair of the departed. The Molly Fire is writer and photographer Mitchell’s mixed media homage to his departed mother, and is a beautiful evocation of life through image and text.
